Book Haul Dec 09

This is my book haul for the month of Dec 2009.

The bottom 6 books were bought at the Times Book Fair at Pullman for only RM30. The book Baby Bliss by Dr. Harvey Karp was picked by hubby.

The next 2 books, The HOST & Man and Wife were bought from a friend who was having garage sales. 2 books for RM20.

The top 6 books were from Popular Bookstore, my fav. They always have offers & I'm a member too so I can get extra 10% discount. I've finished reading 2 books by Dorothy Koomson & Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. I can't wait to start on the 2 books by Sydney Sheldon, 1 of my fav writer. And I would like to finished reading The Time Traveler's Wife before watching the movie. I heard it's a good read. Those 6 books cost RM150 after the discount.

I could not help myself... got 3 more books. I was drawn into Popular Bookstore when I was just gonna go to Everise to get some eggs.2 from Jodi Picoult, Mercy & Vanishing Acts, another 1 is The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver.

Aug 09 UPdate on Books

ooo... it has been a long while since I updated the books that I have manage to finish reading... looking back at my archive, since last October to be exact 0_O"

I was on a buying spree in October, then got introduced to 2nd hand books (Shalom & Book castle) , then the X-mas stall where I found 6 books by John Grisham (so lucky) & the wicked Times Warehouse Sales and lastly the impulse buy after watching Marley & Me. ooo and a few books while on vacation in Singapore last Apr.

These books are on the floor near by bed. I've sorted them.
For the past 10 months, I've finished reading 24 books... yay!
7 of John Grisham, 8 of Sarah Paretsky, 9 of random Authors.
I still got 30 more books to go, btw it's on the right side.That's why I promise myself to stop buying books, especially fictions, until I have finished all the booksBut today I was at tHe Spring & saw this MPH books promotion. I can't resist it... and ended up buying 3 hard cover books.
501 MUST VISIT ISLANDS. I need to be prepared with this knowledge when I strike MEGA Toto 1 day... may my dream come true!
If, and only if I strike MEGA Toto 1 day, I want to hav the best pools for my mansion, which btw will be design by me too... hahahah... that's why I needed the 2 books below. I've been brought up to envision our own dreams & know exactly what we want, for it to come true. Like how I got my Wii hehehhehehehehehe... just kidding. I was only looking at it with puppy eyes every single time we passed by the shop nia.I kinda blocked out the price tag oopppsss & it turned out to be freaking expensive.
But on the bright side, I save RM113.42 from the discount.

Well, that's all the update for now.

Treasures at PERKATA sale

I sneak out when the body painting business was slow to look for treasures at other nearby stalls.

I got this doggie basket for only RM4 le & the pretty card for RM1.

Adding to my Sara Paretsky mystery novel collections.

These Lilian Jackson Braun's books of "The Cat Who ...... " looked really intriguing so I got 3 for a taste 1st.I picked the book on the left bcoz of the word Ha Ha Ha on the cover.And the book on the right was picked bcoz of the book's cover drawing.

Thanks Louis, AngWie and JamesBong for givin me the PERKATA coupons to spent. You guys can have the books if you want, but let me read it 1st lar. I only bought 2 RM10 ticket this year, economy not very good ba... hopefully I can be lucky enough to win the lucky draw.

Bookssssss

I just watched Marley & Me recently. It made me laugh so hard & at the end made me drop a few tears... ok lor... alot of tears la... This is not the film to watch if you don't want to be seen crying.

It made me smile when I tot of Marley... such a crazy dog... sweet at the same time too. The movie make a big deal out of celebrating the mundane, about the everyday adventures. It's not filled with heroic events (no super power involved). There's no talking dogs. There's just a man and his wife, and the dog they come to love.

Usually such a touching movie would mean that the book would even be more heart warming, more soul. That's why I got this... even though NO discount yet...

But then I saw these too & can't resist...I loved reading Danielle Steel's masterpiece. Man & Boy by Tony Parsons got the praised of Loi & I loved his other book, One for my baby. Came out with a much lighter wallet sigh...

p/s: The show by the name of LOST is really befitting as I'm now really LOST in the plot!

Pot, Book & Boon Khai Delight

I just had the worst Kueh Chap at Expert, along Jln Song for breakfast. urgh... spoilt my morning nia... make a mental note NEVER to go back again! EVAR! **which I most probably forget in a few weeks time**

We had a mission today, buy a frying pan that is suitable for induction hub. Remember my sick induction hub was admitted to the hospital but the doctors cannot find anything wrong with it o_O" The specialist advice me to get new cooking utensil & see whether the auto-off problem still persist or not. My shitty shopping experience for the pan at Parkson still pissed me off. And RM388 for a Maxim frying pan is just TOO OUTRAGEOUS!!! I'm so angry the Tefal pot I bought for RM280 only lasted 2 freaking years. I voiced my concern to the technical personnel at HomeMax that a new pan will cost me a BOMB & if that auto-off problem still there, then how???!!!! They told us to bring along a magnet & as long as it can stick to the bottom of any cheap ass pan then confirm can use already.

That's WHY we were armed with fridge magnet & placing it at the bottom of any frying pan that we saw... went to all those superstore that sell cheena stuff... gotta loved those stores. They hav so many weird & interesting & useful stuff. We got this big ass pan for RM33 and it works perfectly!!! Just saved RM350 le... $o happy now!!!

hehehhe... at the Pusar Mel Kuching picking up a parcel that look so badly tortured... It's a book from Amazon that is not sold here. Ah.. the wonders of Online Shopping!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DPS at Simpang Tiga was havin closing down sale & we got time to spare. So that means Treasure Hunting! hahhah... really happy bcoz we grab some useful stuff at great prices... saving more $$$ depend on how u c it lar.

Belachan bee-hoon, Rojak, ABC, Jiu Hu Kangkong --> with that in mind we headed to Song Kheng Hai Hawker Center where else? But with no parking space available, we dejectedly left.

Plan B: Boon Khai Delight at Premier 101

Boon Khai is another outlet from the already-famous one at Palm Road. It's so NEAR to our place wohooooo. The place was FULL HOUSE when we got there ~3pm. This place is popular for the rojak & cucur (fried stuff) & ice kacang etc.

Special RM2.50. So nice on a hot afternoon. There are tons of other drinks like White Lady, Matterhorn, ABC etc.

Belachan bee-hoon RM4.00 (small). Richly flavored broth, pungent to the bone... NOT!!! Such a disappointment! Not spicy at all. sigh... Cucur Campur RM4.00 (small) consist of fried shrimp fritters, yam, sweet potato minus the toufu were great with the chili sauce. Fried Chicken Wing RM2.50 each, were crisp but tasteless. Overall it's a nice place to hang out without the usual hawker's cramps seating arrangement.

Home Cook Dinner: Lamb Shoulder with vege + fries & soup with bun.

The mint sauce that we bought suck donkey a$$, too sour & taste like I'm eating tooth paste... urgh.

Christmas Decorations

1st up was this cute little X-mas tree from Erfurt, Germany.

This bells reminded me of the movie "The Polar Express" where the boy thought that his experience was from a dream but found the bell in his pocket...

The Christmas tree that used colorful lights was hubby's idea. It was perfect as it din take up any space & was so cheap. Ain't it pretty??

Bought this cute little guy from X-mas Market in Pisa, Italy!

This candle holder was bought from the X-mas Market in Frankfurt, Germany. The deer on top keep spinning round & round. I loved it so much and bought it although was very expensive.Books staked up as a X-mas tree in the corner!!!

Waiting for guests to arrive on Christmas Day for lunch!

p/s: I was really in panic mode on Christmas Eve as the floor & carpet need cleaning.
p/p/s: Plate, fork & spoon need to be wash & ready by noon!! god!
p/p/p/s: The dressing room need to be locked up so that nobody can go in there as it's a pigsty in there.

Boooooooksss & Conference

Weekends are the bestest as I can take my time & enjoy my breakfast at Causeway Bay. As usual, we had lotsa dim sum & we tried the Scallop dim sum shown below (RM6.60), but it was disappointing... not worth the money... My egg tart & cha siu puff & sio long pau made my morning. Total bill was RM32, never gonna order that scallop thingy evar again.

After we finished our breakfast, the x-mas stalls were opening for business. I was drawn to the used books section... hahah... too predictable rite?

Hubby picked this book "The Spirit of Christmas" (RM12)

Hopefully he will make good use of the creative holiday ideas in the future.

Me? I only had eyes for John Grisham. I got 6 books by him (RM8 each),

All were still in good conditions. So happy with my purchase. Total 7 books for only RM48 as got 20% discount if more than 6 books... wohoooo... Then we went to the "Times Warehouse Sales" at Permata Carpark. *GRIN* More books galore! But the books were not placed systematically, just rows & rows of books! I spent a long time there selecting books that I want.Some books are just weird...2 years 2 lateEven got Kabbalah for Dummies hahah... Student hav this book to pass their mathsSee... all sort of books are available, covering all needs.ok... below are the list of books I bought.

I was in Inti College for 2 days attending a Baha'i Conference. Here's my name tag:
I've not returned to my college all these while. Even the Diploma Graduation I missed it as I was in MMU Melacca, too lazy to come back.Nice fountain in the garden.

The crowd was BIG. People going back to the hall after a tea break.

My brothers were the "Volunteers" or ursherer for this event. Volunteers has a special band on their arm. A bunch of them make sure the event ran smoothly.My 2 handsome brothers, Collis & WilsonMy cousin-in-law, Uncle Lawrence was performing with the group on stage... Photo taken by my brother who ran upstairs & took this awesome view from the top.As the hall was not big enough due to overwhelming attendance, a live telecast to another hall was done simultanuosly. My youngest bro, William was in the children class but he seem to b the GIANT in that group hahaha... here he is bein punished for losing a game.In brief, the conference was to prepare us for the challenges and obtancles that we gonna meet. What we want archieve & how to archieve the goal.
