Perth Day 2: Elmar's in the Valley

It's Dinner Time!!

Wen & Jas was supposed to join us but they had a wedding to attend, what a bummer :P
They recommended this place: Elmar's in the Valley
Poor Alexander exhausted his batteries at the Wildlife Park trying to make friend with all the animals there. He took a nap once he got comfortable in the baby car seat, while hubby drove to our next destination.
Some claimed this cosy restaurant serves the best German Food in Perth. Going to Australia eating German Food hahah
Alexander was still sleeping so we took our time and took a walk at the vast open space at the back of the restaurant. Enjoying the sunset...
... at a two acre beer garden
... waiting for Alexander to wake up
Finally Alexander woke up and we took our seats at the restaurant. Hubby decided to try their beer too. How can one not try German beer when visiting the brewery.
Hubby chose Over Draft Alt 4.8% alc, a classic Dusseldorf style Alt Bier, brewed with a blend of dark roasted malts, which in turn contribute to the light copper colour of this beer. Combined with Ale yeast this beer has a rich fruit flavours and an assertively hoppy and dry finish (I have no clue what I just wrote, just cut & paste from the website menu hahaha)
BBQ plate AUD36.90 Elmar's Famous Kassler Chop, Coarse Bratwurst and a House Marinated Chicken Drumstick, on Potato Skins with Sweet Chilli Sauce, Sour Cream and Gardens Greens. Loved the Kassler Chop, flavorful. Bratwurst was  delish. The drumstick as just so-so but it was soft and tender.
Sampler plate AUD21.90. A bit of everything heheh. The dips were awesome.
I manage to order dishes without German Sauerkraut which I totally don't get, tasted like something went bad, went badly bad.
 Alexander loved the bratwurst (sausages)...
Nice tasting olives... before this, I was not really into olives, but they have opened my eyes (or rather my taste buds). Oh and did I mentioned that there's great live music.

The Bratwurst was so delicious I had to buy some home for Wendy and Jason since they missed it. We walked to their 'small goods' section to grab some sausages before we pay the bill. So convenient. These sausages were very affordable and cooking them at home will surely make them happy, I know I would.

Total damage: AUD85 (~RM265) including some small goods & souvenirs

Perth Day 2: Caversham Wildlife Park

Caversham Wildlife Park
The Wildlife Park is at Whiteman Park.
Entrance fee AUD23 for Adult, and AUD10 for children, below 3 yo is free. Getting very excited with the tot of getting very close to the animal and also touch them. Although I've been Australia 3 times, I've never touch a kangaroo or a koala...
Kookaburra, maybe not as fun as finding the one in the wild like we did in Melbourne, but this way I got a lot closer
Here I will show you the animals they have there.. I'll be slightly biased and only show you the animals that I think are cute :P
Before entering the kangaroo area, I read the rules to Alexander, making sure he understands it.
My favorite sections of the park, where you can go in and touch, pet, and feed the kangaroos
Alexander was scared at 1st.
But started to warmed-up after a while.
Alexander is trying to sneak up to the kangaroo...
Getting close to the Kangaroo now.. after that, there was no stopping Alexander.
He "hop hop hop" towards the roo trying to join their pack.
ah... a Kangaroo with cute joey having neng neng... like my big boy, 2 years old but still want breast milk. Well, only the best for my boy.
The albino kangaroo. The park do provide the feed. Just get it from the bins located at the side of the walkway. Got to feed them out of our hand!
Making new friends...
True Australian... Chill & RELAX!
I feel like I’m 12 years old again, the first time I came in contact with the kangaroos.  I simply ADORED the kangaroos because they were very friendly, gentle and tame. Excited yet scared. Their tongue touching my finger while feeding them was slightly "geli" for me.
Emu, a BIG BIRD!
Alexander going eeeoooo-eeeoooo-eeeeooooo. Totally din expect lil Alexander to recognize the donkey. Ah... the wonders of kid's show. Who said TV was bad? hahahah...
There was a Farm Show over at Molly's Farm. The show started with introducing the sheepdogs and sheering the sheep, and Billy-tea too. They also did a whip-crackling demo. But Alexander was getting restless (the show is a bit too grown up for him), so we left before the show ended.
Alexander shouting "PIG" when he saw this pink curly tail animal hahhaha... I was again very surprise as it's our 1st time seeing a live pig. I tell you, this is 1 of the reward in letting ur kids watch BARNEY over and over and over again. Well, to me, I only was thinking "that's alot of BACON" :)
ow... Cute llama at the barn.
Lil mister "I'm not scared of any animal", running around chasing the animals to give then a pat. Even the mountain goat ran up the log to escape from him :D
The barn had this very low barricade so Alexander can just stand there and watched the guinea pig, rabbits etc
Next was "Meet the Wombat & Friends" shows. The zoo keeper will bring out their favourite friends to see, touch and learn about.
Eagle maybe...
Sayang possum.. she's a beauty
I forgot what this is... happen when I dun blog immediately :(
That's a baby kangaroo...
The last celebrity was this really "ho mia" wombat. We got to sit with one and touch its leg. They are bigger than I thought they would be. Nice photo capture by the workers there. Took 2 shots and I loved then both. We had to queue up but did not wait for long.
Don;t get lost now
We took quite a long time from one exhibit to another as Alexander stop and looks at the animals with intense interest... sometimes have to drag him to move along
The next big appeal to Caversham is to see and touch the Koalas.
They really so cute and cuddly... We were in luck, they sleep alot but were awake when we got there
Most of the koala are sleeping but this one was busy having a snack (eucalyptus leaves).

This is our first time sayang koala...They are really soft.
So much to see and do at Caversham Wildlife Park
Our 1st Press Penny experience, AUD 1 each. After a few of these, the novelty wore off .
 Alexander signing grass...
Having some fun on the grass...

The park now features about 200 species, and more than 2000 head of animals, birds and reptiles; most housed in a walk-through environment. It's a AWESOME place to bring along the kids to see all kind of animals over here.

It's really a great place to visit in Perth!
