Perth Day 3: Perth Zoo

We arrived quite early... as the parking lot was quite empty... were not sure even if it's the ZOO... we had to ask an elderly couple to confirm we were at the right place :). It was easy to grab a parking space and get straight in to say hi to the animals.

1st up, a mummy & baby gorilla :P
A video about elephant was showing on the TV, which was Alexander's favorite animal at that time.
That's a big map! Alexander trying to decide which animal he want to see first...
First up is.... Alexander's favorite animal of cos ... an Elephant that originate from Malaysia hahahahah... went all the way to Perth to see a Malaysian elephant... the irony
Here, we hear how keepers care for this four tonne jungle giant
Elephant hau lian it's skill in getting food
Giddy up Galapagos Tortoise.
Really HUGE!
and some small tortoise too...
Then it was off to the African Savannah where we were captivated by the magnificent zebras and giraffes.
Feeling I'm in Madagascar! Hello giraffe and zebra! Why you don't want to come closer? :(

The low-lying barriers meant it was easy for Alexander to see and we were happy to just hang out and keep watching them
Alexander loved Meer cats I think. He stood there for a long time
The graceful cheetah
Some Rhinos lazying around!
This male lion was hiding behind some tress, keeping an eye on the zoo visitors, and cleaning his paws and face.
The baboon were hanging around as if to say: 'look at me and check out my bits! We giggled over the baboons' pink bums.
This enclosure housed a huge pack of African painted dogs, on our visits the dogs seemed excited and were all running around, seems to be playing a game of "catch the thief".
Nice elephant painting...
I really liked this bird enclosure. It really looked like all different sorts of birds were congregating around a waterhole. And take note: the birds are not in the cage! They are just there hanging with the people. Kind-of scary!
Alexander imitating the flamingo... with huge success!
Alexander, nearly two, loved being able to get close to some sunning kangaroos. What a life!
I should have packed more food because there was plenty room on the grassed area for a picnic and stuff from the main cafe was expensive. Anyhow we had our simple snacks that we bought at the bakery next to Atomic cafe earlier on, some sausage rolls (each $3.5) and chicken pies (each $4)
We were in luck! The elephant came out for a stroll...
Alexander was very excited! We followed the elephant for quite some time...
Three-and-a-half hours after we arrived at Perth Zoo, Alexander had nothing left in the tank.
It's a lot of walking when your legs are little, so we said see ya later to the animals and went back to the car. But before that, another round of those penny press
Overall the value for money for us was good. It was AUD 24.50 for hubby. Alexander got in free because he's under four. And I got in FREE too as it was MOTHER's DAY! Yay! BEst mummy's day gift! So I’d just like to say a big thank you to Perth Zoo for offering free entry to all MUMs to the zoo on Mother's Day

We always visit zoos as they are all different and educational for us all, you get to see animals close up that you may never see in real life other than at a zoo.
