Hong Kong Day 1: Shopping (Jan'08)

Getting from Shen Zhen to Hong Kong is a breeze. We hopped on a metro from our hotel to the last stop, Luo Hu. Then Proceed by foot to the other side with a lot of help from Mr.Escalator. Got through immigration and ta da we r in Hong Kong already.

Quickly bought 2 Octopus cards, a pre-load card that can be used on MTR, Bus & Ferry. Sunguh convenient & easy to travel around HK island. Just Touch & Go, no need look for exact $$.

Was so famish after checked in to our "Guest House", at CHUNGKING Mansion. If you have watch the movie you will know how it looks like... muhahahah ... but the location is DA BEST. Just cross the road & there is the MTR. Literally at your door step. Went to the nearest Shopping Complex which is SOGO... and chomp down Japanese Food at a fast rate.

Top on our list to visit is MONGKOK. Hubby wanna searched for Camera Lens , tripod & SC29 (some kind of wire for the flash thingy). Ask a few dozen of camera shop but none has it. Hubby was quite disappointed. There was 1 old looking shop but we tried anyways and to our surprise they got the lens but the price was hick-up to HKD13000... hai... hubby decide against it. But getting the super light tripod was really a bargain at only RM1100 & it even comes with a bag. Finally we went back to the 1st shop to get the wire thingy (they offered the lowest price of RM200++). Glad it's a fruitful & satisfying shopping experience.
Explored Ladies Street, Sport Shoes Street & a lot of other street. Din buy anything as I is totally fail at bargaining. Everywhere I looked, these colorful sign boards attracted my attention. HK is a really colorful city. The buzzling city of HK during the day. Whenever a structure is under construction ---from setting up of new board, or repair work in progress, even the tallest skyscraper--- the workers erect *bamboo* scaffolding around the site. This looks really odd --> a very modern building, reaching up toward the clouds, encased in a latticework of bamboo:
Road side stalls selling non-halal food ... looks & smell delicious:Hui lau San, the famous mango dessert in HK (KennySia said so), is at every corner of HK. You don hav chance to miss it. Ordered Mango Pudding with Glutenous Rice Ball, Mango with Mango Ice-Cream & Jelly, Mango with Stuffed Mango Cake... hahahah .... all with MANGO!!! ok lar ... I think this dessert is over rated le ... in Kuching we see mango everywhere le ... hubby even said the mango not as sweet as ours :P and it's so freaking expensive le ... our desserts cost RM30 (including fried dumpling & chai tau kueh)
Night falls, and we quickly got to Avenue of Stars along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront to greet Bruce Lee who was waiting for us: Bruce told us to meet him before 8pm. He's giving us a kick in the a$$ for bein late. No more good location for a great view of the "Symphony of Lights Show". This spectacular multimedia display is named the "World's Largest Permanent Light & Sound Show". At exactly 8pm on either side of Victoria Harbour, colored lights, laser beams performing a stunning, unforgettable spectacle.
Even got music synchronized to the lights and narration but I din catch a word as I was too absorb with the city coming into life:
The Skyline of HK city at night cannot be missed. I've never seen anything like this before (yea.. yea ... me veli mountain turtle). A thumb up to the tripod that really help hubby in getting all these awesome skyline of HK.
Mousy kissing me goodnight:
What a day!!!
Day 2 in HK will be even more fun & exciting.
