A few weeks ago, after having dinner, hubby's grandpa was walking rather slow to the car. He seems weak & was holding on to any nearby structure. It was a worrying sight. As hubby's aunt was staying with him alone, we all went back to their house in case grandpa needed support getting into the house.
Grandpa had no problem getting into the house although in a slower pace. Grandpa said something about being cold & his leg felt weak. Here, hubby got some oils from his aunt & started to rub his leg. Trying to warm him up.

Within that week, grandpa went for checked up at Kuching Specialist, doctor recommended blood transfusion. A blood transfusion is a safe, common procedure in which blood is given to grandpa through an intravenous (IV) line in one of his blood vessels. In this case, a transfusion was done as the doctor explained that grandpa's can't make blood properly, it's common in old age.The procedure usually takes 1 to 4 hours, depending on how much blood you need. As grandpa needed 2 packet of blood, it took ~7 hours. Grandpa stayed in the hospital for 1 night of observation. He was released the next day.
I'm pretty scared of growing old. All our internal & external parts are not exchangeable although tear & wear happen. The decline in one's physical strength & mental capabilities scared the shit out of me. I try my best to maintain my god given body & try to live a fulfilling life. I want a to grow old gracefully. The joy is in the journey, of course. Only time will tell.
How are you spending the 1st half of your life? Will you grow old gracefully?
