Happy Naw-Ruz!

Naw-Rúz symbolizes the new life of spring.

Naw-Rúz (literally new day in Persian) is the Bahá'í new year festival and falls at the spring equinox, which marks the 1st day of spring and the end of the Baha'i Faith’s annual 19 Day Fast. It is one of 9 Baha'i holy days on which Baha'is suspend work. But this year it falls on weekend, so no need to take any leave from my depleting leave entitlement.

Naw-Rúz is the 1st day of the month of Baha which is the 1st month in the Bahá'í calendar, which consists of 19 months of 19 days each (361 days), with the addition of "Intercalary Days" (four in ordinary & five in leap years) between the 18th & 19th months to adjust the calendar to the solar year.

This year, my parent were here in Kuching to join in this joyous celebration. Visiting homes of Baha'i friends.

Happy Naw-Rúz
